How Eagles Evolved

I’m not a paleontologist, nor do I play one on TV, but I am pretty sure that it is not true that “[t]he evolutionary process [turned] ... pterodactyls into eagles” as written in the PAW article on Frances Arnold ’79 (cover story, Oct. 22). It is my understanding that birds evolved from a completely different line of dinosaurs, not flying ones. Not that it really matters; it was a very interesting and informative article nonetheless!
