Reading the letters about Trump’s new secretary of defense in the February issue resurrects my thoughts about “Princeton in the nation’s service.”
Several years ago, I started compiling a list of ignominious Princetonians who, in one way or another, stained their alma mater’s reputation. Included in this list were the likes of Aaron Burr, Donald Rumsfeld, Eliot Spitzer, Samuel Alito, Ted Cruz, and let’s not forget Jeffrey MacDonald. Now, I sadly add Peter Hegseth to that list. Thankfully for Princeton, Donald Trump went to Penn, after two years at Fordham.
