In 1959, I was elected president of Theatre Intime and also the producer of The University Players summer stock company. On Nov. 19, 1959, I brought Sir John Gielgud, performing Ages of Man, to Princeton's McCarter Theatre as a benefit for the Players. (I had seen him perform this brilliant collection of Shakespeare’s works at a Broadway theater and knocked on his stage door, to ask him.) In a sold out house, I was able to donate $2,000 to the Players. On Aug. 15-18, 1969, I was producing the movie Woodstock, with Bob Maurice and director Michael Wadleigh. We won the Oscar in March 1971 for Best Feature Documentary.
