The article is largely correct, as is the previous comment. Most immigrant families are probably quite aware that although many major benefits, such as freedom of expression and limits on government power, will affect them immediately, the material benefits will mostly come for their future generations. But people who decry hostility to immigrants often fail to distinguish between legal and “undocumented” (i.e., illegal) migrants. Any data about immigrant education, work, criminality, etc., are useless unless the distinction is made between those two large categories; and a third, refugees, should also be considered as a separate category.
