Loyalty and Growth in College Athletics

I agree with my classmate on this, and I have another beef on the current state of college athletics. That is, the transfer portal that makes it easy for athletes to move from one school to the next without the penalty of losing a year of eligibility, and the emergence of NIL as an enticement to do so, has made a four-year college experience a thing of the past. Without going too much deeper on the subject I conclude with these questions: What happened to loyalty to your school — and to your teammates — and isn’t getting a university degree about more than playing your sport? The Ivy League has mostly had this right and I hope it continues to support a good balance of competitive athletics and intellectual growth.
