Professor Wilentz’s discussion of the movie A Complete Unknown might have benefitted younger PAW readers if he had noted Bob Dylan’s Princeton connections. The University gave him an honorary degree in 1970 and he wrote of his experience (not entirely a pleasant one) in the song “Day of the Locusts” on the New Morning album.
Earlier, in the fall of 1964, Dylan performed at McCarter Theater, solo with guitar and harmonica. I attended that night with my classmate Bob Lorenz and our dates. I was too thick to fully appreciate Dylan then, but my date was not, which possibly explains why we never went out again.
