I loved reading about Rachael Jeck’s important work. I was perplexed, however, by the caption under her photo in the print edition: “Lady Leadership.”
This phrasing contains echoes of historically sexist language used to diminish women’s power (such as in outdated descriptions of female athletes as the “Lady Tigers” while the men were the “Tigers”).
This word choice is painfully ironic given the article is about gender equity. I expect more from the PAW in 2024.
