The article entitled “Slow progress for faculty-diversity efforts” (Notebook, Jan. 13) shows that in nine years minority faculty has risen from 13 percent to 16 percent of the faculty, while female representation has grown from 21 percent to 25 percent of the faculty. This doesn’t seem so bad to me; I remember that when my car was broken into in front of Firestone Library in 1959, the town police immediately concluded it was done by “those --- from Trenton.”
