Kudos to Mark Bernstein ’83 for “Road Trip!” (cover story, Sept. 13). His article was engrossing and entertaining. I wish he could have gone beyond St. Louis.
It reminded me that when I was president of the Class of ’49 leading up to our 50th reunion, I made an effort to meet with classmates around the country — by air rather than road. I held luncheons in Florida, Texas, Seattle, and elsewhere, and hoped that I had brought together classmates who never had felt a part of the class. It was a rewarding American road trip.
