Thank You, Mr. Rankin

I was a student at Eastwoods under Mr. Rankin’s leadership. He was one of the most important influences on me for my future work because of how he ran the school. He was calm, humane, and always alert intellectually. The Latin I learned from him led me to take more classics, which aided my archaeology and anthropology research in surprising ways (see Roosevelt 2020). I’m a professor at a large public university, which produces thousands of graduates each year who know the difference between facts and fake news. Grateful for having known him.
