An open letter to the Class of 2020:

You will spend much more of your life as a Princeton alumnus/a than as a student. What makes Princeton unique and amazing is the community of alumni throughout the world. You’ve heard a lot about us and seen us be crazy when we return to campus for Reunions and Alumni Day.

It normally hits you as your class closes out the P-rade and walks onto Poe Field to be welcomed, with sincere joy, by thousands of cheering fellow alums. You feel instantly as though you belong to this vast community of people with whom you have an automatic commonality of being a fellow Tiger.

While there will be no P-rade this year, no locomotives for you to hear and feel, please know and believe that you are one of us — we welcome you into our ranks. No matter where you go, seek out your fellow Princetonians, young and old. I promise you will be received with open hearts.

Please stay connected to your roots and to this great institution! Congratulations!
