What Religion Did (and Did Not) Give to Science

Certainly the concerns of religion over the centuries led many who became scientists to seek answers about the same issues religion dealt with: meaning, virtue, humanity, etc. But inspiring a quest is not the same as inhibiting a quest, and once religion inspired it then hindered and still hinders today. Those refusing to heed the good scientific and medical advice about illness and disability are motivated by irrational religious claims which have no basis in fact and which despite early usefulness have become our deadly enemies. Religion must be ended, the one thing the Soviets legitimately tried to do but failed to do because of human vileness and stupidity.
