As a Basic Engineering major graduating in 1975, and part of the civil engineering department, there was a large business/economics component coupled with heavy engineering as well as a survey of other engineering disciplines. I believe my year there were two or three of us graduating with this major.
Now with quite an evolution, it has gained a lot of popularity.
