Reading this, I flashed back to a night in early 1977 when I was reading and editing (for the next day’s Daily Princetonian) Associated Press copy about the Michael Blumenthal’s appointment as treasury secretary and his remarkable personal journey, including the time he and his family spent in Shanghai after getting out of Nazi Germany.
