I received my BSE with a major in Basic Engineering in 1964. That major was clearly designed for students who already knew they intended to pursue a graduate degree in engineering or business. After service in the Navy and a “gap year” of sorts, I eventually received an MBA and Ph.D. in business with a concentration in quantitative decision making. Had ORFE existed in the ’60s it would have been a perfect major for me.
