Spouses of Deceased Alums Excluded from TigerNet

Your Reunions Guide article “Spouses Step Up” was interesting, mentioning many spouses who volunteer, including some widows. It did not bring up the appalling fact that spouses of Princetonians who have died are excluded from using TigerNet, the main means of communication with the University.

We in the Class of 1960 treasure the spouses of our deceased classmates, called Class Associates, and consider them full members. They retain a strong interest in their husbands’ class and the University. They read PAW, some come to our reunions, and some donate to Annual Giving. But Class Associates can’t log into TigerNet and thus our website. Nor can they register for Reunions through TigerNet. It is much harder therefore to communicate with them.

This is mostly a concern for the older classes, but the doubled size of the undergraduate body means it will soon get much bigger.

Princeton University prides itself on its approach to DEI. This inexplicable policy means that in this instance, DEI is discrimination, exclusion, and inequity.
