Why is Princeton rolling back its commitment to divest from fossil fuel investments? Has it turned its back on not just future Princeton generations but future generations for the whole planet? Have Princeton and Princo not realized the future of world energy is solar power (and I include both wind and wave power which are sun generated as well)?
This past year renewable energy passed coal as a leading form of energy used globally and 17% of U.S. energy is now solar generated. I challenge Princeton to reverse this ill-advised idea and get back on track to be a world leader in the fight against the fossil fuel industry and for a better future. And I also challenge all Princetonians to not just look at their own investments but also look at their home/auto insurance, credit card companies and banks, most of which use your money to invest heavily in the oil industry and instead find companies and banks that do not. A good place to start is looking at Third Act (thirdact.org). Incidentally, AAA nationally has home/auto insurance and credit cards that are free of fossil fuel investments.
