Princeton Computing in the 1960s

I was a member of the Department of Mathematics in 1968, leaving Princeton in March of my junior year (I was failing Russian 102 and the University kindly offered me the option to restart my third year the following September, keeping my full scholarship. Alas, I went to NYC, picked up the Times and their section “Jobs for two years of college,” and was hired by IBM based on my entrance testing to be in their second Assembler Language coding class for the 360 Series mainframe. And I never looked back, staying in IT for 48 years until age 70.

I enjoyed the names the computing phases so enjoyed ... I think this is the order:
— computing systems
— office automation
— applications
— data architecture
— databases and SQL

Thank you for the history of computing at Princeton. Professor Alan Trotter was my adviser and his interest was in topology as I recall.
