Al died May 5, 2024. He was born March 6, 1933, in Newark, N.J., and attended Newark Academy, where he won all-state honors in basketball.

At Princeton, Al majored in psychology and joined Cannon Club, where he was sports manager and a member of the bicker committee. He played freshman and varsity basketball and club football, baseball, and basketball. His senior-year roommates were Tom Hall and Dick Conroy. After graduation he served in the Navy and then launched a career in finance, holding a seat on the New York Stock Exchange and becoming an executive senior vice president at Smith Barney.

With his wife, Dorothy, he spent weekends with their five children at their family compound on Long Beach Island, N.J. After 40 years and Dorothy’s death, Al met and married Holly Lotts Cuskaden. They spent almost 25 years exploring the world and playing golf. Al is survived by Holly; daughters Elizabeth and Allison and sons Tom, Al, and Brian; and nine grandchildren.
