Ned died in Duluth, Minn., April 13, 2025.

He graduated from Red Bank (N.J.) Regional High School, where he was president of his class in his junior and senior years. At Princeton, he majored in architecture, was a member of the 150-pound crew team for three years, and dined at Cannon Club.

After serving two years in the Navy, Ned earned a graduate degree in architecture from Stanford. He returned to Red Bank, and for 40 years was a member of the firm that eventually became Kaplan, Gaunt, DeSantis. Ned and the firm played a central role in the revival of downtown Red Bank, for which they received many awards. Ned also served for many years on the board of the American Institute of Architects-New Jersey.

In 1966, Ned married Laraine Holt. Together as partners for the rest of Ned’s life, they were involved in many local activities and organizations in Red Bank. Ned also loved sailing and crossword puzzles.

Ned is survived by Laraine; their children Geoff and Susanna; and grandchildren Sawyer, Lily, Hadden, Cyrus, and Roland. To all, the class extends its condolences.
