Harry died Oct. 16, 2024, in Dallas surrounded by his family. He was 96.

Born in Philadelphia, he grew up in a nearby suburb and spent summers in Ocean City, N.J. He attended Abington High School and graduated from Salisbury School. At Princeton, he majored in chemical engineering, was treasurer of Elm Club, and was a member of the Glee Club and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

After a year studying industrial management at the Wharton School, Harry joined Celanese Chemical Co. as a sales trainee. Two years in the Army followed before he returned to Celanese, where he remained for 39 years, retiring as president in 1989.

Harry met his wife, the former Louise Ostergaard, while stationed in the Army at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah as a member of the Chemical Corps. They raised six children and in later years spent time at homes in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Ocean City, fishing and golfing, and enjoying children, grandchildren, and friends.

Harry is survived by his six children, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Louise, his wife of 71 years, died earlier in 2024.
