Dave died March 28, 2025, at the age of 70 in Cincinnati.

He was born July 31, 1954, in Newport News, Va. Dave graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. degree in chemistry in 1976 before obtaining his Ph.D. in theoretical physical chemistry from Princeton in 1981.

Dave began his career in scientific research and development at Procter & Gamble. He worked for P&G in Cincinnati and London and retired as the senior director of global medical affairs for P&G Pharmaceuticals. He finished his career as senior director of global medical affairs in Memphis for the spinal division of Medtronic, a medical technology company.

Dave and his wife, Ellen, shared a deep commitment to philanthropic endeavors across Africa through their involvement in organizations including HEART, SOTENI, and SonLight Power.

Along with Ellen, his wife of 38 years, Dave is survived by his children, Josh, Matt, and Katie; grandchildren Vivian, JD, Lily, and Ella; and his brother, James Scarboro Bowman III.

Graduate memorials are prepared by the APGA.
