Antimicrobial Resistance: Beyond the Breakpoint

(Karger) Antimicrobial Resistance explores the prevention, control, and treatment of drug-resistant infections, a rapidly changing area of research that constitutes one of the major challenges in modern medicine. Weber describes evidence for effective interventions, costs, treatment strategies, and directions for future research. He discusses a range of topics, from promoting appropriate anti-microbial drug use, to reducing antimicrobial-resistant infections in health care settings, to preparing for HIV drug resistance in the developing world. Weber is director of the Office of Antimicrobial Resistance, National Center for Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
