Does the bell on Nassau Hall still strike every hour on the hour? In the fall of 1952 my room was on the fifth floor of Reunion Hall, long gone. It was about 100 yards as the crow flies from my ears. The first week it woke me up every hour, the second week every two hours, the third week every three hours. By the fourth week I slept soundly; they had stolen the clapper, it was a tradition then. I would like to hear the sound again if it still rings. Thanks.

I gave Orange Key tours in 1974-77, and my tour always ended coming up the steps between Whig and Clio facing Nassau Hall just as the bell rang for the change in classes. The sound of the bell and the sight of the students crossing back and forth on Cannon Green was, at least for me and many on my tour, the classic college moment. I don't think the bell rings for classes anymore; maybe President Eisgruber will bring it back!
