Affinity Conferences to Return in 2024 Starting With LGBTQIA+

Alumni can mark their calendars for fall 2024 for the return of affinity conferences on campus. The first will celebrate LGBTQIA+ alumni and is scheduled for Sept. 19-21, 2024.

The LGBTQIA+ conference was originally planned for 2021 but was postponed due to the pandemic. It’s been four years since the last affinity gathering, which was the Thrive conference celebrating Princeton’s Black alumni in October 2019. Princeton’s last LGBTQIA+ conference, Every Voice, was held in April 2013. These conferences typically include panel discussions, speakers, workshops, and social events for alumni to connect.

“We are very excited to resume affinity conferences after this long hiatus,” Jennifer Caputo, deputy vice president of Alumni Engagement in the Office of Advancement, said in a statement. “Conferences provide opportunities to nurture communities and connect alumni in meaningful ways. We look forward to welcoming our alumni back to campus in the fall of 2024 to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community and allies.”

As planning for the conference is underway, alumni are invited to participate in regional focus groups in New York City (Sept. 19), Washington, D.C. (Sept. 26), Los Angeles (Oct. 4), Princeton (Oct. 26), and other locations. To learn more and register, visit affinityconference.alumni.princeton.edu.

Future conferences celebrating graduate alumni and Asian/Asian American alumni are planned for 2025 and 2026 respectively.
