From the Archives

Professor John McPhee (top row, at far left) and his “Comp Lit” students are pictured on the steps of Nassau Hall in April 1993. University archivists provided no details on why the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and New Yorker staff writer posed for this group photo. Was this a particularly beloved class? Or does Princeton’s legendary nonfiction writing instructor have each of his classes photographed for posterity? Can any PAW readers identify these students or say if any have launched writing careers?
