Hot type and another late night (the clock reads 12:55 a.m.) are vintage Daily Princetonian from the days when production took place at The Princeton Herald (a now-defunct local paper) offices on Chambers Street. Archivists provided no information about this photo, which shows the old composing room with its trays of metal type. In 1971, Prince trustees voted to abandon the Herald and its outdated equipment and switch to “cold” offset-printing technology, thereby entering the computer age. The offset operation was on the third floor of 48 University Place, the Prince building. Can any PAW readers identify these students, the Prince employee (right), or date the photo?
