The Chapel


Though the content of Opening Exercises has changed greatly over the years, the University Chapel — ­pictured empty and gleaming before ­students’ arrival — has been the ceremony’s home since 1929. The ­earliest known ­opening assembly was held in Nassau Hall in 1802, according to archivists.
