Conference planned for LGBT alumni

Published Jan. 21, 2016

On April 11–13, the University will hold its first conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered alumni. The idea “really came from alumni, that they wanted this,” said Livia McCarthy, senior associate director for regional affairs at the Alumni Council, which is holding focus groups in seven cities to help plan the event.

“It feels a little overdue, but it’s nice to see the University offering something that is targeted at the LGBT community,” said Shawn Cowls ’87, president of FFR/ Princeton BTGALA, a group for LGBT alumni and supporters.

Previous University conferences have focused on black alumni, women, and race and community.
