Disaster Footage at Night

(Three Ring Records).

ANDRE PERRY ’00 and JOHN LINDENBAUM ’99 joined forces in 2003 to form their indie folk-rock band, which tours nationally. The band “channels the soul of Neil Young and the electronic depth of Grandaddy,” wrote one reviewer. Released last month, Disaster Footage at Night is the duo’s second album and features original lyrics and melodies. The topics of their songs range from postwar trauma to star-crossed love affairs. The duo’s favorite track — “New Virginia,” inspired by Perry’s stop in New Virginia, Iowa, on his way back to the University of Iowa, where he teaches creative writing — is about regrets and new beginnings. Lindenbaum is completing a doctorate in geography at the University of California, Berkeley.
