Exploring finance, policy

A gift by investment executive Mitch Julis ’77 will support a new center at the Woodrow Wilson School that will focus on public policy and finance.

President Tilghman said researchers at the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance will study ways to “analyze and improve our nation’s financial and public policies in the wake of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.”

The University said Julis’ gift will anchor a series of planned investments in research and teaching in the field. Princeton said that the Wilson School will partner with the Bendheim Center for Finance to enhance undergraduate and graduate programs.

Julis is a founding partner and co-CEO of Canyon Capital Advisors of Los Angeles. He said that without a better understanding of the financial system, “boom-bust cycles and their adverse social consequences are going to continue to occur.”
