In Memoriam: John C. Moore

JOHN C. MOORE, mathematics professor emeritus who specialized in algebraic topology, died Jan. 1 in Rochester, N.Y. He was 92. Moore published his most-cited paper, which was about Hopf algebras, with mathematics professor John Milnor ’51 *54 in 1965, and many important mathematical concepts were named after him. Moore was a faculty member from 1952 to 1989 and was co-chair of the mathematics department in the 1960s.
