President Tilghman’s last weeks in office have been filled with tributes. To honor a president who championed the arts, the campus community held a “Shirleypalooza” as part of a special arts weekend, April 25–28. Student dance and musical groups took the stage, and Triangle Club members serenaded Tilghman with a musical number in which they begged her not to leave. Tributes included an “Iron Cake” competition and, a few days later, a surprise faculty toast that visibly touched the departing president. A highlight of the celebrations was a Shakespearean spoof with Connor Diemand-Yauman ’10, above, playing “Queen Tilghman,” who was waging war against the Greeks.
