WOMEN’S SOCCER midfielder Lauren Whatley ’11 scored game-winning goals in consecutive 1­–0 matches against American University and Brown Oct. 5 and 10, helping Princeton improve to 5–6–1. The win over Brown was head coach Julie Shackford’s 200th as a college coach.  

MEN’S SOCCER dropped its first two Ivy League games, losing 4–2 at Dartmouth Oct. 3 and 4–2 at Brown Oct. 10.  

Kathleen Sharkey ’12 scored in the final minute to give FIELD HOCKEY a 3–2 victory over American Oct. 11. Princeton, which won 10 of its first 12 games, lost 3–2 in overtime to top-ranked Maryland Oct. 7.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY placed second in a strong field at the Notre Dame Invitational Oct. 2. The University of Washington, the nation’s No. 1 team, won the race. Liz Costello ’10 led the Tigers, finishing fifth. In MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY, Brian Leung ’12’s sixth-place finish at Notre Dame helped Princeton place 10th in the team standings.
