Video: Iain Couzin, ants, and algorithms

In an interview with the nonprofit Edge Foundation, assistant professor Iain Couzin talks about the rules that govern schooling fish, swarming locusts, and marching ants. Says Couzin: "What we are really trying to do is make it a very empirically-driven research area where we are studying what real animals do. What we find when we look at that is that our assumptions can be completely incorrect."
