Cynthia Cherrey, the vice president for student affairs at Tulane University who helped lead the school’s recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina, will succeed Janet Dickerson as Princeton’s vice president for campus life Aug. 1.

Damage sustained in the hurricane forced Tulane to close for the fall semester of 2005, and Cherrey was one of a dozen senior university officials responsible for evacuating students and planning for the reopening of the campus the following January.  

Cherrey said she will work “to ensure that every student finds their place at Princeton and feels connected to the University.”
