I recently contacted Sen. Ted Cruz ’92 with this message:
“Sen. Cruz, you were quoted in the obit for Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty. You told what a good ol’ guy he was but made no mention of his statements that gays were sinners and that African Americans were happy under Jim Crow laws. Are these your attitudes as well? If so, unbecoming a Princeton alumnus. If so, do you dare come back to Princeton for Reunions and the P-rade?”
Previously, I joined other alumni critics of Cruz in criticizing his public statements and policies, even going so far as asking that Princeton rescind his degree. Not the case here but unless he continues in not taking stands against the disastrous policies of the Trump administration, especially toward colleges, universities, and education in general, I may again call for his dismissal from the ranks.
