The tail is now wagging the dog.
The tail is the cluster of naive undergraduates influenced by a revolutionary insurgency — an overtly socialist movement that has deceptively named itself “Black Lives Matter.”
The dog is the Princeton faculty and staff who have lost their compass and shamelessly trail along behind a BLM caravan.
It is apparent that Princeton University is no longer guided by the time-honored wisdom so eloquently described by H.E. Mierow, Class of 1914: “Here we were taught, by men and gothic towers, democracy and faith and righteousness and love of unseen things that do not die.”
I am half Chinese and half Caucasian. From age 5 to 12, I lived in a country where citizens of diverse ancestry — African, East Indian, Chinese, Portuguese, English, indigenous Amerindian — all lived, went to school and worked together.
In that time and place there was no racial discrimination. It was, as Martin Luther King Jr. has stated, character, not skin color, that was important and was respected.
Racism is to be abhorred. Responsible initiatives are needed and must be implemented.
Self-abuse is not a solution.
