This was a wonderful Q&A between a talented writer and a very knowledgeable individual (Professor Wilentz). While I recognize that Dylan had talent, I wonder why many folks consider him a genius. Dylan’s music never quite clicked with me, though there are a number of his songs that had a personal impact at one time or another (e.g. “Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right”). Is the term “musical genius” at least in part a matter of one’s taste as well as the aura that surrounds a particular musical artist? Something to ponder.
