Albert Fiori ’47

Body

A PROUD VETERAN who faced many battles during his 66 years, Al lost a gallant fight against diabetes Oct. 12, 1991 in Jacksonville, Fla. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian. A] was born in Passaic, NJ. He joined the Navy in 1941, when he was 16, by forging his dad's name on his enlistment papers. After service in the Pacific, the Navy sent Al to its R.O.T.C. unit at Princeton in 1944. He majored in history before withdrawing from the University in 1946. In 1950 he reenlisted in the Navy and served three and a half more years with distinction in the Korean conflict.

In civilian life, Al devoted nine years to the Boy Scouts as a field executive, before distinguishing himself as a ceramic engineer and a sales marketing manager. He was an active member of Florida Craftsmen, American Ceramics Society, Southeast Geological Society, and the Elks. Al ended a long absence from Princeton by returning for our 35th reunion. He realized then, he said, that "the Class is my family," and he attended eight of the next nine reunions. He also wrote frequent colorful letters to old buddies in our Class.

Photography was Al's passion, and he and Lillian traveled extensively so he could capture the sights on film. Retired for the last few years, he noted in our 40th year book that he was spending "more time enjoying the view and less time on the racetrack of life ' " To Lillian and his many friends, the Class extends its sincere sympathy
