Albert George Parker III ’44

Al died March 1, 2009, in Albuquerque, N.M., where he had lived for many years with his wife, Joanne. He was 87. 

Al served as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Colo- rado, Arizona, and New Mexico. Born of missionary parents in China, Al’s grandfather was Albert George Parker 1887, and his father later served as president of Hanover College in Indiana. Al prepped at Lawrenceville and, at Princeton, majored in economics and was a member of Cannon Club. He graduated in 1944 and spent two years with the Navy in the Pacific.

Afterward, he earned a divinity degree from McCormick Theological Seminary and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois. Al retired from the ministry in 1985. 

Besides Joanne, his wife of 59 years, Al is survived by his daughter, Katharine Redding; his son, John; and three grandchildren. Our sincere condolences go to the family and Al’s many friends.
