AL COMPTON, a retired pediatrician and resident of Kensington, Calif., died July 10, 1992, at the age of 79, Until his retirement, in 1982, he had practiced pediatrics with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in both the Oakland and Vallejo facilities, for almost 30 years. After Princeton he received a graduate degree from Yale and graduated from Cornell Medical School. His father was a professor at City College of New York, and his grandfather was a C.C.N.Y. president.

After his retirement Al enjoyed "various nonmedical activities," including a painting class, volunteer work for Nuclear Freeze, and travel in Europe.

Al's wife of 44 years, Kathleen (McNiven), a 1944 Cornell graduate, survives, as do two sons, Stephen R. and James A.; a daughter, Elizabeth; and one grandchild. To them we offer our sincere sympathies.
