Alfred Stengel Jr. ’31
AL DIED Jan. 28, 1993, in Merideth, N.H. He prepared at William Penn Charter School, Philadelphia. While at Princeton, he was on the DAILY PRINCETONIAN photographic board and was the manager of the track team. After graduation, he attended the Univ. of Pennsylvania medical school, receiving his degree in 1935. He entered private practice, and after a number of years joined the Pennsylvania Railroad Company as medical officer. During WWII, he served in India and China; he was discharged a captain in 1946. He worked in various hospitals, including Montrose V.A. Hospital in New York and Rutland VA. Hospital in Massachusetts, retiring from practice in 1979. Al is survived by his widow, Hope; three sons, James, David, and Alfred; three daughters, Susan, Martha, and Alice; three grandchildren; a brother; a sister; and several nieces and nephews. The Class sends its deepest sympathy to his family.
