Andres F. deUrrutibeascoa ’38

Body

ANDRES DIED July 18, 1964, in the Havana, Cuba, area of his birth. Cancer claimed him as he was preparing, like so many, to leave the country. Andres was one of three Cubans who graduated from Asheville School in North Carolina in 1934. There he was active in drama and publications. In his freshman year, he lived at 2½ Vandeventer St., as did the late Crawf Irvine.

He left Princeton to work for the Cuban Bureau of Printing and Engraving, of which his father Fabian was director for more than 20 years. In 1946, Andres went into the importing business in Havana. He spent several years in Brazil.

Andres did not marry. He is survived by a niece, Natalia Lasa, to whom we are indebted for news about his later years, and nephews Miguel deLasa and José Maria deLasa IV. To them, we extend our condolences.
