Andrew F. Peck ’47

Body

ANDY DIED in N.Y.C. on Sept. 20, 1989, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He spent most of his adult life in Locust Valley, Long Island, where he and his family were an integral part of the community. After graduation from the Hotchkiss School in 1943, he served for three years in the Marine Corps. He joined our Class in 1946 as a junior, after attending Colgate and Dartmouth while in the Marines. A history major, Andy received his degree from Princeton in 1948. He was a member of Cap and Gown and played on the varsity golf team.

Andy's interest in golf continued after he graduated. He competed successfully on the eastern amateur circuit. He loved the outdoors, and in addition to golf, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Andy had a highly successful career in the securities business. He spent 25 years with Dark, Dodge & Co., where he rose to become president and chairman of the executive committee. He later was a V.P. of Kidder, Peabody. In 1979, he started his own brokerage firm, Andrew Peck Associates, and he was with that firm until his final illness.

We shall all miss Andy, his sincerity, his honesty, and above all, his courage and innate dignity. The Class shares this untimely loss with his former wife Louise, his daughters Diane and Susan, and his son Douglas. He is also survived by his father, Fremont '20, and his brother, Fremont Jr. '44. To all of them we extend our sincere condolences.
