Andy graduated in 1946 from the on-campus Marine Corps program, earning an associate’s degree. In our 50th-reunion yearbook he notes that this was one of the first Princeton AA degrees. He earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude from New York University, a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Teachers College, and in 1960 he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut.

In 1949 he became a teacher in the Greenwich, Conn., public schools. During his career in Greenwich he held many teaching and administrative positions, including as a principal of elementary and later high schools, director of teacher recruitment, head of in-service training, director of adult education, and summer school administrator.

After he retired in 1981, the family moved to Charlestown, R.I., where Andy died May 30, 2018. They had two sons, Morgan and Curtis; and a daughter, Loren.
