Anthony H. Meyer ’52

Body

Tony died peacefully July 13, 2009, in his home in Edgartown, Mass. He was 78.

Born in Montclair, N.J., Tony graduated from the Webb School in California, where he took part in sports and extracurricular activities.

At Princeton, Tony was on the staff of the Princeton Tiger, joined Charter Club, and then left college in 1950 to serve in the Korean War. He returned to graduate in 1955, but retained his affiliation with ’52.

After college, he traveled extensively and then returned to New York City, where he was an investment banker with Irving Trust Co. and later with Drexel Burnham Lambert.

In the late 1980s, Tony retired to Edgartown. He loved Martha’s Vineyard and was active in civic affairs, particularly the Boys’ and Girls’ Club, which he generously supported. He was happiest out on the water in his sailboat, and he won many trophies sailing with his cousin, Landon Peters ’52.

Tony never married, but was a beloved uncle to more than a dozen nieces and nephews.
