Arnold P. Taylor ’33

Arnold Taylor died Nov. 1, 2009, at peace and with grace in Texarkana, Texas. He was 97.

Arnold was born in 1912, attended Phillips Exeter Academy, and majored in classics at Princeton, where he was on the swim team and was a member of Elm Club. He attended a year of medical school at Columbia and subsequently served as an Army medic during World War II.  

Arnold met the lovely Priscilla Rowe in 1947. It was love at first sight. They were married in 1948 and moved to Essex, Conn., where they lived and raised their five children. Arnold also taught piano and managed investments.  

Throughout his life, Arnold was passionate in his love for music, health, conscientious diet, gardening, nature, politics, and his family. He was equally passionate about his dislikes of “contemporary” music, processed food, communism, and chitchat.

Priscilla died in 2010. Arnold is survived by his six children, Grant (from his first marriage to Lois Grant), Lucinda, Charlotte, Hannah, William ’80, and Thomas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
