Arthur Earl Tator ’36

Body

ART DIED July 31, 1989, in Escondido, Calif. of a heart attack. He was born March 29, 1913, in N.Y.C.

He prepared at Newark Academy where he was an excellent dash man on the varsity track team. At Princeton he majored in English and was president of Dial Lodge in his senior year.

Art's career included positions with United Airlines, American Insurance Co., and the GAF Corp. for which he worked 27 years, retiring in 1970 as product manager of pigments. While he was with GAF, he was a member of the New York Pigment Club, New York Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Assoc., the Rubber Manufacturers Group, and the Dry Color Manufacturer's Assoc.

He then owned a bookstore in the Denver area for three years, and then fully retired due to poor health. His hobbies were golf, traveling, and bridge.

Art is survived by his wife, Louise Neumann Tator, whom he married in June, 1940, in Short Hills, NJ., a son, Ralph G., a daughter, Carolyn Gale Leuthauser, and three granddaughters.

We who knew Art well appreciated his quiet dignity and friendliness. We felt very sorry for the suffering and relative immobility, caused by his illness, which he experienced in later years.
