ART DIED May 26, 1993, in Manchester, N.H. He had been ill for several years, but his activities were limited only at the end, and he had been planning on joining us for the 50th.

Born in Toronto, he grew up in Detroit and southern California, entering Princeton from South Pasaderids San Marino H.S. He roomed with Jim Pittenger, was a member of Court Club, and majored in chemical engineering.

Following graduation in May of 1943, Art enlisted in the navy, serving until 1945 as engineering officer aboard the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE.

Following a stint with C. F. Braun, Inc., in L.A., he entered Harvard Business School, receiving an M.B.A. in 1949. His business career took him back to Braun, then to Pabco in San Francisco. In 1954, Art began a long association with Monsanto in management and corporate planning, retiring in 1986.

In 1950, Art married Elizabeth Herold, who died in 1979. Surviving are three sons, George, James and Thomas; a daughter, Elizabeth Nelson *81; and six grandchildren.

In 1985, Art married Ruth Ann Hansen, who survives him. The class extends its heartfelt sympathies to Ruth Ann, the children, and Art's brother Alec '46.
